OVERVIEW

Marrakech Desert Tour Via Draa Valley

The Draa valley may be a more than one hundred kilometres long belt of date palms. Plus some few people, some mountains, and a river disappearing gradually while you go through your journey even in winter time.

You follow the river, which is like one massive plantation, normally some twenty metres wide on both sides of the river bank, before the desert takes control. All the approach, tiny irrigation systems secures the survival of the palms, and a lot of important, the individuals living of the crops. Every currently and then, you pass a small village, where the fashionable ages haven’t had any impact. In these places, all women are veiled and dressed in garments with patterns changing from village to village.

After Zagora, true desert starts, but only slowly. Some few places, a dune is standing out from the stone desert, and you surprise if it’s real or not. And maybe you will think perhaps somebody simply left the sand there! You keep driving all the way to M’hmid, and then walk some kilometres before endless dunes cover the full horizon.
